Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- Ohio State improved to 5-0-0 in non-conference action with three wins last week against non-WCHA teams. The Buckeyes defeated Mercyhurst, 5-1, in the first game of a home-and-home series between the teams. Ohio State went on to win the 2024 Women's Ice Breaker Tournament with an 11-0 win over Stonehill and a 7-3 win over then-No. 11/12 Cornell.
- Graduate captain Jenna Buglioni leads the team with 18 points on the year. She is tied for third nationally in points this season.
- Buglioni and Jocelyn Amos are tied with 10 goals to lead the team in scoring. The duo also leads the team at the faceoff dot, with Buglioni first in the country with 179 wins and Amos second with 171.
- Of Buglioni's 10 goals on the year, four have been game-winning goals, a mark that also paces the country. Â
- Amanda Thiele paces the Buckeye goaltending unit with eight games played and a 6-1-1 record. She has earned a 1.88 goals-against average and .883 save percentage on the year and her six wins and win percentage (.812) rank second and third in the country, respectively. All four Ohio State goaltenders – Thiele, Genny Klein, Hailey MacLeod and Lexington Secreto – have played this season.
- Joy Dunne, Emma Peschel and Josie St. Martin earned WCHA player of the week honors for their performances in the Buckeyes' non-conference games last week. Both Dunne and St. Martin posted four-point games against Stonehill in the Ice Breaker Tournament, with Dunne leading tournament players with six points and three goals on the weekend. St. Martin's four-point game was a career best for the rookie, who earned her first league honor. Peschel led defenders with four points and two goals and was +6 in the tournament.
- Amos finished the Ice Breaker championship game against the Big Red with a career-best four points and became the first Buckeye to record a power play and shorthanded goal in a game since Natalie Spooner did so against St. Cloud State on Jan. 28, 2011.
- Ohio State is 12-0-0 against St. Thomas since the Tommies joined the WCHA ahead of the 2021-22 season.
- Last season, the Buckeyes outscored St. Thomas, 29-5, in the four regular season meetings.
- Buglioni leads active players with 21 points on five goals and 16 assists against the Tommies. Riley Brenman joins her as having played all 12 games in the series.
