
Harber Leads Buckeyes Through First Two Matches at BNC

DUBLIN, Ohio – Ohio State freshman Vaughn Harber won his morning match and halved his afternoon match to earn a point and a half for the Buckeyes as they dropped a pair of matches on the opening day of the Barbara Nicklaus Cup at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Ohio State fell 4-2 in the morning match to Florida and then 5.5-0.5 in the afternoon to Charlotte.
Harber raced past Parker Sands of Florida in his first match, winning 4&3. He then won the 18th hole to halve his afternoon match with Charlotte's Eli Schmidly.
Jack Vojtko was the other Buckeye winner on the day as he cruised to a 6&5 victory in the morning over Florida's Zach Swanwick.
The match play event features three matches between the men's and women's teams from Ohio State, Florida, Clemson and Charlotte. The men's and women's teams combine their point totals, and an overall school winner will be crowned at the end of Tuesday's final match. Charlotte leads the way with 14 points, Clemson is second with 12.5, Florida next with 11.5 and Ohio State with 10.
