COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team starts its three-game week with a matchup against No. 15 Mercyhurst Tuesday at the OSU Ice Rink. Faceoff between the Buckeyes (6-2-2, 4-2-2 WCHA) and Lakers (2-5-1, 0-0-0 CHA) is set for 6 p.m.

Ohio State hosts the 2024 Women's Ice Breaker this weekend at Value City Arena in the Schottenstein Center. The Buckeyes welcome Cornell, Penn State and Stonehill to Columbus for the tournament Oct. 25-26.

Ohio State takes on Stonehill Friday at 3 p.m. with Penn State and Cornell facing off at noon. The championship game will be played Saturday at 4 p.m. with the consolation game contested at 1 p.m.

Buckeyes in a Nutshell
- Tuesday's game is the first of three games Ohio State will play in Columbus this week. In addition to the matchup at the OSU Ice Rink Tuesday, the Buckeyes host the 2024 Women's Ice Breaker Tournament Friday and Saturday at the Schottenstein Center. For more information and tickets, click HERE.
- Ohio State enters this week of non-conference play having just completed a four-point weekend against St. Cloud State. The Buckeyes won game one 5-1 and skated to a 3-3 tie and dropped the shootout against the Huskies in game two.
- Buckeye captain Jenna Buglioni leads the team with 12 points this season. She is tied for sixth nationally in the category. She also leads the team in blocked shots with 15.
- Buglioni and Jordyn Petrie lead the team with seven goals on the year. The duo is tied for third in the country in goals scored.
- Petrie leads rookies nationally in goals scored and is tied for first with nine points through her first 10 collegiate games.
- Junior defender Emma Peschel has recorded a team-high 10 assists on the year, good to tie for third in the country in the category. She also paces the team with a +11 on ice, which ranks top 10 nationally.
- Kiara Zanon's career marks in points (167), assists (99) and goals (67) rank in the top five among active NCAA players. In her second season as a Buckeye, Zanon has recorded 18 goals and 31 assists for 49 points in 49 games.
- Graduate goaltender Amanda Thiele is one win shy of breaking the program record for career wins. She earned her program record tying 57th win last Friday at St. Cloud State. Thiele, an alternate captain for the Buckeyes this season, has a season record of 4-1-1 for a career record of 57-10-2.
- Tuesday is Ohio State's seventh consecutive matchup against a ranked opponent. The Buckeyes are 4-2-2 against ranked teams this season.
- Ohio State head coach Nadine Muzerall, who is in her ninth season at the helm of the Buckeyes, earned her 200th win last weekend against Minnesota. She is 201-75-21 for her career at Ohio State.
- Tuesday's game between Ohio State and Mercyhurst is the first of a home-and-home series being played this season. The Buckeyes will travel to Erie, Pa. to play the Lakers Dec. 2.
- The game is the first between the teams since December of 2018.
- The all-time series is tied at 4-4-0. Ohio State has won three of the last four games, including the last two games.
- The Buckeyes swept the Lakers the last time the teams faced off. Game one was won 2-1 in overtime and game two was a 9-2 victory at the OSU Ice Rink.
