COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sunday, the Ohio State men's lacrosse team hosted the 2024 MRB Thumbs Up game at Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. The game is an annual tradition between the Buckeye and North Carolina programs that benefits the Michael Breschi Foundation, which honors the life of Michael Breschi.
Â
"Sunday was an incredible day to honor Mike," Ohio State head coach Nick Myers said. "First off, I want to thank everyone who attended the game and donated to the MRB Foundation. It was a special day to not only see two talented programs in action, but to celebrate the family, friends and fellowship that is shared through Mike's spirit and this game."
Â
The game started with a message from North Carolina head coach, and former Ohio State head coach, Joe Breschi. The teams and fans in attendance then raised a thumbs up, Michael's signature gesture, in his honor.Â
Â
On the field, the teams battled hard in their first tests of the fall season. Following the game, the teams and their families shared a meal together.
Â
Also announced Sunday during the game was the 2024 Michael Breschi Memorial Scholarship recipient, Ed Shean. The scholarship is awarded each year to an Ohio State senior who best exemplifies the spirit of Michael.
Â
"Being a part of the MRB Thumbs Up game and hearing Michael's story for four years now, I have truly realized how special this is," Shean said. "It is an honor to be the next Buckeye to carry the mantle of the MRB scholarship and have my name associated with the special person Michael was. It means a lot to me that Coach Myers and the Breschi family believe that I exhibit similar character to Michael, and I will cherish this experience for the rest of my life."
Â

Â
The Buckeyes close their fall season with a scrimmage against Robert Morris Saturday, Oct. 19 at noon. The teams will face off from Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Admission is free.
