Buckeyes Vault to the Lead at Southwestern Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State carded an 11-under 273 and jumped into the lead through two rounds of the Southwestern Invitational on Tuesday at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.
Senior Maxwell Moldovan made six birdies and an eagle en route to tying his career-low with a 6-under 65. He jumped up into a tie for eighth at 5-under par for the tournament.
Fellow senior Neal Shipley carded his own stellar round on Tuesday, posting a 4-under 67 and is a shot ahead of Moldovan at 6-under par and in a tie for fifth.
Freshman Jack Vojtko, playing in his first collegiate event, followed his opening round of even par with a 1-under 70 on Tuesday and is in 20th place at 1-under for 36 holes.
Adam Wallin rebounded from an opening round 74 to card an even-par 71 and is 3-over through two rounds. Patrick Schmucking rounded out the scoring five with a second-consecutive 73 and is 4-over par.
Jackson Chandler, who is playing as an individual this week, shot a 3-over 74 and is tied with Schmucking at 4-over par.
The Buckeyes will be seeking their first win of the season and their first since winning the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate last April. They hold a two-shot lead over Texas Tech, UNLV and Colorado.
