COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 7 Ohio State (11-1, 3-0) will square off against No. 13 Michigan (5-2, 3-1) at the Covelli Center in Columbus Friday. Match time is set for 7 p.m. with the Big Ten Network providing the broadcast.  Â
- The Buckeyes improved to 11-1 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten with wins over No. 25 Maryland (38-4) and at No. 17 Wisconsin (27-15) last week. Nic Bouzakis (133), Jesse Mendez (141), Dylan D'Emilio (149), Isaac Wilcox (157), Rocco Welsh (174) and Nick Feldman (HWT) all went 2-0 in the wins.Â
- This will be the 92nd dual between Ohio State and Michigan all-time, since the first bout in 1924. The Buckeyes are 21-67-3 in the series with each team splitting the last 10 dual (5-5). Ohio State won the battle last year in Ann Arbor, 23-15, Jan. 27, 2023. The Buckeyes are looking for the first win over the Wolverines in Columbus since Feb. 3, 2012, a 24-13 win at St. John Arena. Each team has gone 4-1 on the road in the last 10 meetings. Â Â
- Ohio State opened Big Ten Conference action Jan. 12 at the Covelli Center and came away with a 36-6 win over visiting Illinois. The Buckeyes built a quick 16-0 lead behind wins by technical fall from Luke Geog (197) and Feldman (HWT) and a pin at 125 by Brendan McCrone. Â
- Feldman orchestrated a come-from-behind win in the final bout against No. 8 Cornell Jan. 5 to help the Buckeyes win 21-20 in a thrilling dual at the Covelli Center in Columbus. Down 20-18 in the team competition, Feldman trailed No. 19 Lewis Fernandes of Cornell 4-3 with under 30 second to go in the third period. In front of 4,300 fans, Feldman got the match-winning takedown for a 6-4 triumph by decision to secure the team win, the second-consecutive Top 10 victory and third of the season.Â
- Feldman's effort earned him the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honor, his first and the third for the Buckeyes this season.Â
- Bryce Hepner, a redshirt junior wrestling at 165, won the Bobby Kaufman Open in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, with a record of 4-0. He recorded three pins and a win by major decision to secure the title. Freshman Vinny Kilkeary, wrestling unattached, took second at 125 with a 3-1 record. Â Â
- Ohio State won a team title at the 2023 Collegiate Duals with three wins over No. 21 Northern Iowa (26-7), Lock Haven (28-9) and No. 2 NC State (21-20). Cornell also participated at the event. The Big Red defeated Little Rock (32-8) and No. 13 Pittsburgh (27-13). No. 6 Iowa State handed Cornell a 26-15 defeat in Nashville.Â
- The Buckeyes won their opener 28-7 over the Panthers before a 28-9 win over Lock Haven. In the finale, McCrone (125), Bouzakis (133) and Mendez (141) gave Ohio State an 18-0 lead over the Wolfpack with consecutive pins to start the dual. The Buckeyes, with a win by freshman Welsh (174), held on to defeat NC State 21-20 for the title.Â
- Against the Wolfpack, McCrone upset No. 1 Jacob Camacho with a pin just 37 seconds into the first period. Bouzakis then needed just 51 seconds to pin No. 5 Kai Orine before Mendez put the Buckeyes up 18-0 with a pin against No. 4 Ryan Jack.Â
