
Bertrand Breaks Buckeye Women’s 60m Record at Corky Classic

The Buckeyes wrapped up competition on Saturday in Texas Tech’s Corky Classic.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track & field team wrapped up competition at the Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas on Saturday.
Leah Bertrand broke the women's 60m record by running a 7.20 to earn her second win of the season. Nazzio John tied the second-fastest men's 60m time in program history (6.63) and finished third. The Buckeye women earned a second win when Bryannia Murphy finished the 400m in 53.19.
- 60m: Bertrand was the runner-up in the women's prelims (7.33), while John finished third in the men's prelims (6.71).
- 60m hurdles: On the women's side, Marcia Sey was fifth (8.19) and Olivia Powell was eighth (8.29). Braxton Brann finished eighth on the men's side (7.86). Sey was sixth (8.31) and Powell eighth (8.35) in the prelims for the women, while Brann was eighth (7.84) in the men's prelims.
- 400m: Behind Murphy's win, Chanler Robinson finished eighth (54.95). On the men's side, Mason Louis finished sixth (46.77).
- Long jump: DJ Fillmore was the men's runner-up with a best mark of 7.26m / 23'10", while Brian Kellon finished fifth (6.94m / 22'9.25"). Kayla Watson was the lone Buckeye in the women's competition, with a best mark of 5.44m / 17'10.25".
- 4x400m relay: The Buckeye women's squad (Columba Effiong, Robinson, Murphy, Powell) finished fourth (3:39.12). The Buckeye men's squad (John, Louis, Antonio Hanson, Nick Biega) finished ninth (3:10.99).
- 200m: Marcus Brown Jr. finished ninth (21.24) on the men's side. In the women's B sections, Sydney Bryant led the Buckeyes in 10th overall (24.92).
- Triple jump: Atinuke Shittu rounded out the top-10 on the women's side (12.10m / 39'8.25").
