- This will be the first all-time meeting between Ohio State and Eastern Illinois on the tennis court.
- Against Xavier, Ohio State is 20-0 all-time and has surrendered just three points to the Musketeers in those 20 matches. Last year, the Buckeyes beat Xavier 7-0 on the first day of the season.
- Ohio State is opening its 111th season of tennis and will be led, once again, by director of tennis Ty Tucker. Tucker is in his 25th season at the helm and enters the year just 15 wins shy of 700 for his career.
- The Buckeyes open the season ranked No. 2 in the ITA preseason rankings.
- In the fall, the doubles pairing of JJ Tracy and Robert Cash won the ITA All-American Championship and finished the fall as the No. 1 ranked doubles team in the country.
- Tracy played well both in doubles and in singles. He won the ITA Midwest Regional singles title and advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Fall National Championship in San Diego. Those results landed him at No. 4 in the singles rankings. For the fall, Tracy was 10-2 in singles matches and 12-2 in doubles matches. His next collegiate singles win will be the 100th of his career.
- Cash reached the quarterfinals of the singles draw at the Midwest Regional and then teamed with Nakashima to reach the semifinals in doubles, only losing to teammates Tracy and Alexander Bernard. The two would then finish the fall on a high note as they teamed to win the ITF 25K at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center, topping a team from Tennessee in the final.
- A total of four Ohio State doubles teams are ranked at the end of the fall. In addition to Cash and Tracy, the team of Tracy and Alexander Bernard are ranked 10th, Cash and freshman Bryce Nakashima are ranked 27th and the team of Preston Stearns and Jack Anthrop are ranked 53rd.
- In singles, Tracy finished the fall ranked No. 4, Anthrop No. 11 and Bernard No. 103.
- Fifth-year seniors Cannon Kingsley and Justin Boulais both played well this fall on the professional circuit as each claimed separate doubles titles ATP Challenger Tour. The two split the No. 1 and No. 2 singles positions last year and should anchor the top of the lineup again this spring.
