Buckeyes Compete in St. John’s Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing programs returned to action for the first time since November in the St. John's Invitational Saturday in Queens, N.Y. The Buckeye men, who entered the weekend ranked fifth, were 3-2 in the event, with the No. 8-ranked women 1-4 on the day.
The Ohio State men are now 19-5 this season and the women have a 14-9 ledger.
Philly Invite Sunday
The Buckeyes will close out the weekend with the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by UPenn Sunday.

The Buckeye Men
The men opened the day with a loss to top-ranked Notre Dame, 17-10, before posting a 16-11 win over No. 15 St. John's. No. 2 Columbia, which took home the event trophy, topped the Buckeyes in round three, 19-8. The Scarlet and Gray closed out the day with 14-13 wins against both No. 7 Harvard and No. 6 Penn State.
Men's epee was 3-2 as a squad with 4-5 losses to Notre Dame and Harvard. Gabriel Feinberg was 9-4 to lead the epeeists, with Miles Weiss picking up six wins. The saber squad was 2-3, with wins against St. John's and Penn State and 4-5 defeats against both the Irish and Crimson. Luca Fioretto was first for saber with 11 wins. Foil was 1-4, with a win against Harvard, led by Justin Vogler and Solin Li with four wins each.
The Buckeye Women
The women dropped 17-10 matches against No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 14 St. John's to start the day, followed by a loss to No. 2 Columbia, 21-6. After falling to No. 3 Harvard 16-11, the Buckeyes closed the event with a 15-12 victory over No. 4 Penn State.
The saber squad was 2-3, with wins vs. both Harvard and Penn State. Maria Alexe led the squad with five wins and Ele Perrier had four victories. Foil was 2-3 on the day, including victories over Notre Dame and Penn State. Dasha Myroniuk was first with six wins for the foil squad. Epee was unable to post a victory, dropping three of its five matchups 4-5. Montserrat Viveros and Karina Dyner led the squad with four wins each.
