
Weekend Wraps Up in Philadelphia Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing programs competed in the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by UPenn Sunday in the Tse Center in Philadelphia. Ohio State's men were 4-1 on the day, with the women 2-3. Â
This season, the Ohio State men are 23-6 overall, while the women are have a 16-12 ledger.
The Buckeye Men
Ohio State's men were victorious in their first four matches of the day. After 15-12 wins over NYU, Yale and UPenn, the Buckeyes clipped St. John's, 14-13. The day ended with a 16-11 loss to Princeton.Â
Sabre was a perfect 5-0 on the day, with three 5-4 wins. Luca Fioretto led the way, posting 10 wins in 12 bouts. Samuel Rightler had eight wins and Vincent Haney notched six. The epee squad was 4-1, with its lone loss to Princeton. Gabriel Feinberg and Miles Weiss led the epeeists with eight victories each. Foil did not pick up a squad victory. Diego Cervantes led foil with six wins in the event.Â
The Buckeye Women
The women started the day with a 21-6 win over NYU before a 15-12 loss to Yale. The Buckeyes fell to the host Quakers 19-8 and were then narrowly defeated by St. John's, 14-13. A 15-12 victory over Princeton wrapped up the weekend.Â
Foil posted four squad wins in five matchups, with its only loss to Yale, 5-4. Dasha Myroniuk had 10 wins, Claire Teresa Galavotti posted nine and Alina Lee had six on the day. Saber was 3-2 in the event, including wins vs. NYU, Yale and St. John's. Ele Perrier had five bout victories and Marie Alexe had four to pace saber. Epee picked up a win vs. NYU. Karina Dyner had five wins for epee, while Yeva Mazur and Montserrat Viveros each had four. Â
Schedule Ahead Includes CCFC and NCAA Championships in Columbus
•   The Buckeyes' next and final regular season competition will be the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill., Feb. 3-4.
•   Ohio State will host the Central Collegiate Fencing Championships Feb. 24-25 in French Field House in Columbus. Admission and parking will be free for the championships.Â
•   NCAA action starts with the Midwest Regional March 9 in Detroit, hosted by Wayne State.
•   Ohio State will host the 2024 NCAA Championships March 21-24 in French Field House and St. John Arena. Ticket information will be announced soon.Â
