Buckeyes Head to New York and Philadelphia This Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing program gets back in action this weekend with a trip east. The Buckeyes will compete in the St. John's Invitational Saturday in Queens, N.Y., and in the Philadelphia Invite Sunday hosted by UPenn in Philadelphia. Each day includes five rounds of fencing for the No. 5-ranked Buckeye men and No. 8-ranked Buckeye women.

The Buckeyes This Season                           Â
- The Ohio State men are 16-3 this year in all dual matches, with the women 13-5.
- The Buckeyes last competed in the Elite Invitational in Columbus Nov. 19. The men were 4-2 in the event and the women were 2-4.
- Epee paces the men's squads with a 16-3 ledger, while saber is 15-4 and foil is 14-5. On the women's side, foil is a team-best 15-3, with epee 12-6 and saber 11-7.
- Six women have recorded 20 or more dual wins this season: Katherine Larimer (25) and Maria Alexe (20) in saber, Dasha Myroniuk (25), Alina Lee (23) and Claire Teresa Galavotti (21) in foil and epeeist Yeva Mazur (23). Luca Fioretto is first for all men with 27 saber wins, followed by Nolan Williams who has 26 saber victories. Miles Weiss has a squad-best 21 wins in epee and Edriss Ndiaye leads foil with 19 victories.
- The Buckeyes' final regular season event will be the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill., Feb. 3-4.
- Ohio State will host the Central Collegiate Fencing Championships Feb. 24-25 in French Field House in Columbus. Admission and parking will be free for the championships.
- NCAA action starts with the Midwest Regional March 9 in Detroit, hosted by Wayne State.
- Ohio State will host the 2024 NCAA Championships March 21-24 in French Field House and St. John Arena. Ticket information will be announced soon.
