Engel Leads the Buckeyes at Virginia Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 20-ranked Ohio State women's cross country team raced in the Virginia Invitational in Charlottesville, Va., Saturday morning. The 5K was at Panorama Farms, site of this year's NCAA Championships.
The Buckeyes finished 15th overall with 369 points. Addie Engel led the team with an 11th place finish in a time of 16:35.6.

"I'm proud of the way our women competed considering the circumstances of the past two weeks. We are still putting all the pieces of this team together and I'm confident we will be where we need to be when it counts."
Noting the Buckeyes
Engel has placed in the Top 16 in 16 of her last 17 races, with the lone exception when she ran as an individual at the 2021 NCAA Championships. The reigning Big Ten Champion has led the Buckeye women in all three races this season.
Engel, Daniella Santos (16:56.1) and Akemi Von Scherr (17:29.4) each raced personal bests on Saturday morning. Santos and Von Scherr finished 29th and 82nd, respectively.
