Buckeyes Run in Loyola Lakefront Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men's and No. 30-ranked women's cross country teams raced in the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational Friday in Chicago, Ill. The women placed sixth as a team, led by runner-up Addie Engel and Daniella Santos, who finished eighth. Zubin Jha was first for the Buckeye men, crossing the line in 25th.

"The women's team has some great momentum right now and we will continue to build on that. There is a lot of season left and I'm confident in where we will be a month from now at the Big Ten Championships. We will be adding Andrea Kuhn back into the mix the next race and the Top 5 are coming around well.

"For the men, Zubin had a great day. I know we have three guys that can run with him but right now we just need to get back to work."

The Buckeye Women
The first six Buckeyes to cross the finish line in the championship race set personal bests. Addie Engel recorded another Top 2 finish, clocking a time of 19:44.9, and Daniella Santos was eighth in 20:02.4. Akemi Von Scherr (20:31.4), Aniya Mosley (21:05.8), in her first collegiate 6k, Gia Napoleon (21:19.5) and Sydney Paul (21:42.3) all set their fastest marks as well. Audrey DeSantis rounded out the Buckeyes in the championship race. Ohio State was sixth as a team.

In the gold division race, Olivia Oiler, Zoee Lehman and Teodora Iovi all ran a collegiate 6k for the first time and Ana Karmol ran her personal collegiate best.

Engel notched her ninth career Top 2 finish and has been in the Top 16 in 17 of her last 18 races, with the lone exception when she ran as an individual at the 2021 NCAA Championships.

The Buckeye Men
Zubin Jha led the Buckeye men, finishing 25th in a personal-best time of 24:10.9. Kevin Agnew, Liam Shaugnessy, Kaleb Martin and Zach Beneteau rounded out the Buckeye scorers. As a team, the Buckeyes placed 13th.

Keegan Freyhof and Will McGraw both ran personal best times in the men's gold division race.

Up Next

The final regular season race is the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas, Oct. 13.
The men and women will travel to Madison, Wis., for the Big Ten Championships Oct. 17 and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships Nov. 10.
