COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State closed non-conference play with a dominating 2-0 victory over visiting Auburn on Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The Buckeyes (4-2-1) scored a pair of first half goals and then got a couple of nice saves from sophomore keeper Molly Pritchard to keep a clean sheet.
Ohio State is now unbeaten in its last four matches and has won three-consecutive heading into Big Ten action next weekend.
How it Happened
The Buckeyes were building towards a goal right from the start of the game. They came out on the front foot and were rewarded with a goal in the 16th minute. Emma Sears got on the board with her first goal of the season as she took a through ball from Dudukovich and beat the keeper, putting the Buckeyes up 1-0. That was Sears' 23rd goal of her career.
In the 23rd minute, Peyton McNamara played a great ball forward that was eventually corralled by an Auburn defender. Her clear was immediately knocked down by Amanda Schlueter and the outstanding freshman took the ball and easily slipped it by the keeper for a 2-0 lead.
Pritchard made the shutout hold up as she made five saves for her second collegiate shutout.
