Buckeyes Finish Fourth at Maui Jim Intercollegiate

FINAL RESULTS
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State carded a final round 273 and finished fourth at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on Sunday at the Mirabel Country Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. All five Buckeyes finished the event at even-par or better and the team posted a program record score of 37-under 815.
The Buckeyes carded rounds of 275-267-273 over the three rounds. The second round 267 was also a program low for 18 holes.
Neal Shipley led the Buckeyes at 12-under par and tied for eighth. His opening 36 holes of 66-64 were both career-low rounds and set an OSU 36-hole record. He made four birdies and an eagle in his final round of even-par 71.
Maxwell Moldovan's round of 1-under 70 on Sunday was a grind and showed why the two-time All-American is one of the best players in the country. He made a double and a triple-bogey in the round but responded with four birdies and an eagle on the par-5 17th to card his 70th career round at par or better. He finished in a tie for 11th at 11-under par, marking the sixth event of his career in which he finished double-digits under par.
Adam Wallin started out on fire and went out in 6-under 30. He made four birdies and an eagle on the opening nine before finishing with a second-consecutive round of 4-under 67. He finished the event at 8-under par and tied for 18th.
Freshman Tyler Sabo played well in his collegiate debut. He opened with a 2-over 73 on Sunday but played his final 36 holes in 3-under par, including a 1-under 70 on Sunday, to finish in a tie for 46th at 1-under par.
Patrick Schmucking carded rounds of 74-73 to start the event but finished with a career-low 5-under 66 on Sunday. He made nine birdies, including a stretch of six-in-a-row from holes 9-14. That round got him back to even par for the tournament and tied for 55th.
The Buckeyes will return to action next month at the Hamptons Invitational at the prestigious Maidstone Club in East Hamptons, N.Y. The 54-hole event will run Oct. 2 and 3.
