COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Ohio State men's golfers have been named to the list of Big Ten Preseason honorees. Graduate student Neal Shipley along with seniors Maxwell Moldovan and Adam Wallin were all named Big Ten Players to Watch this season.
Shipley is coming off an All-American season with the Buckeyes. He played in every event and was second on the team in scoring at 72.72 posting five Top 20 finishes and one in the Top 10. He is the first Buckeye to be a semifinalist and runner-up at the US Amateur in 40 years, punching his ticket to this year's Masters and U.S. Open. This summer, Shipley had three runners up finishes and placed fourth in the 2023 Elite Amateur Series.Â
Moldovan earned second team PING All-America honors and first team All-Big Ten honors last season. For the third consecutive year, Moldovan set the program's single season scoring record, averaging 70.64 and recording 28 rounds at par or better. He had a remarkable seven top 5 finishes, 10 Top 10 finishes and 11 Top 20 finishes of 13 events. Moldovan debuts at No. 6 in 2024 PGA Tour University rankings.
Wallin had a solid junior season averaging 73.15 and played in all 13 events. He obtained five Top 20 finishes including three in the Top 10. At the Cal Poly Invitational, Wallin finished the 54-hole event at 10-under par and won the second tournament title of his career and earned B1G Golfer of the Week. Wallin led the team in the final round of the Auburn Regionals helping the Buckeyes qualify to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season.
The Buckeyes will open the season next week at the Maui Jim Collegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz.Â
