Buckeyes Route Oakland 6-0
8/31/2023 8:08:00 PM | General, Women's Soccer
Ohio State is now 2-2-1 on the season while Oakland drops to 1-3-1.
Junior Kailyn Dudukovich scored a pair of goals and assisted on another. That was her second such game of the season as she also registered five points in the season-opener. Freshman Amanda Schlueter scored her second goal of the season and also picked up her second assist. Sophomores Coley Sidloski and Elle Giannola as well as freshman Ava Bramblett notched their first collegiate goals in the game.
How it Happened
The scoring came fast and in bunches. Giannola got things started in the 14th minute as she slammed home a rebound off a shot from Dudukovich. Just under nine minutes later, Dudukovich collected a deflected ball off a throw in and dribbled into the left side of the box before easily beating the Oakland keeper for her first goal of the night. That made it 2-0 Buckeyes in the 23rd minute.
In the 37th minute, Schlueter took a pass from senior Christin Baumbick in the middle of the box and showed some nifty footwork en route to beating the keeper from close range. Sidloski then capped a great opening half with her first collegiate goal off passes from Giannola and Nina LeFlore.
In the second half, the Schlueter to Dudukovich connected worked again as the freshman found a wide-open Dudukovich with a nice in-swinging pass from the right side and the West Chester, Ohio native buried her second goal of the night. That pushed the score to 5-0 in the 57th minute.
The final goal came from Bramblett in the 77th minute as she received a pass out of the back from Nette-Nina Hiltunen and raced down the left side of the field. She turned the corner past her defender in the box and slipped a right-footed shot pass the keeper for her first collegiate goal.
The Buckeyes were on the front foot all night as they out-shot Oakland 19-7, which included a 15-1 advantage in the opening half.
In goal, Molly Pritchard played the opening half and made one stop while freshman Peighton Northrup made three saves in the second half.
