Dudukovich’s Two Goals Powers Buckeyes Past Ohio 4-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third time this season, Ohio State junior Kailyn Dudukovich scored two goals and assisted on another as Ohio State defeated in-state foe Ohio 4-1 on Thursday evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The win was the second consecutive home win for the Buckeyes who are 3-2-1 on the season.
Dudukovich now has seven goals and three assists through the first six matches.
The Buckeyes also honored four seniors prior to the match as part of Senior Night. Christin Baumbick, Kine Flotre, Nina LeFlore and Emma Sears were all recognized prior to the game. Sears made her season debut on Thursday and assisted on the first goal.
How it Happened
The Buckeyes dominated the play in the opening half and took a 1-0 lead into the break. The goal came in the 20th minute as Dudukovich headed-in a pass from Mirann Gacioch. Sears led Gacioch with a pass to the end line and she then centered a perfect ball to the back post.
Ohio came out of the locker room and got the equalizer in the 57th minute. Following a foul in the box, Shea Robertson converted a penalty kick to draw the Bobcats even.
The turning point in the match came in the ensuing three minutes as the Buckeyes pushed right back. Not allowing OU to gain any momentum, the Buckeyes forced the issue and drew a handball in the box in the 60th minute. Dudukovich converted and the Buckeyes retook the lead, 2-1.
With the momentum still on their side, sophomore Ella Giannola knocked home a rebound off a shot from Amanda Schlueter just a couple minutes later. That was her second goal of the season and the second in as many games and it put the Buckeyes in front 3-1.
The final goal was a thing of beauty. Dudukovich dribbled into the left side of the box before playing a ball to the back post where freshman Ava Bramblett went up and headed in her second goal of the year. That gave the Buckeyes a 4-1 lead in the 83rd minute.
Ohio State outshot Ohio 24-12 while Molly Pritchard made six saves in goal.

Ohio State will conclude non-conference play on Sunday afternoon when it welcomes the Auburn Tigers to The Jesse. Kick is set for noon and the match will be streamed on B1G+.
