- Ohio State returns home for one match this week and it will be against Oakland of the Horizon League on Thursday evening.
- There are only two NCAA DI teams with the nickname Grizzlies and the Buckeyes are playing them in back-to-back matches. After playing the Montana Grizzlies on Sunday, the Buckeyes will host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Thursday.
- This will be the third all-time meeting with Oakland. The Golden Grizzlies won 4-1 in Columbus way back on Aug. 25, 2000 in the program's first meeting. The second meeting came in the 2012 NCAA Tournament where Oakland would advance on penalty kicks after the teams were 1-1 through regulation and overtime.
- All-time, Ohio State is 21-5-1 vs. teams currently in the Horizon League.
- Oakland has also started the season 1-2-1 through four matches. The Grizzlies opened the year with a loss to Kent State and beat Eastern Michigan. Following a 7-0 setback against Northwestern, they drew with Northern Illinois last Sunday.
- The Buckeyes are coming off a 2-2 tie with Montana on Sunday evening in Missoula, Mont. Sophomore Dakota Lyons scored the first goal of her career in the 26th minute to get the Buckeyes on the board. Following Lyons' goal, freshman Amanda Schlueter scored the first goal of her career and it was assisted by fellow freshman Berkley Mape.
- Kailyn Dudukovich had three goals in the first two games, becoming just the fourth Buckeye with three or more goals in the first two games of a season. She has 17 goals in her career.
- The Buckeyes are under the direction of head coach Lori Walker-Hock who is in her 27th season with the program and her 29th overall as a head coach. She has 283 wins at Ohio State and is just four wins away from 300 in her career.
