
Ohio State Rolls Past ETSU to Open NCAA Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State started its NCAA Tournament on Saturday with a convincing 4-0 win over ETSU on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the Auer Tennis Complex.
The win is the 30th of the season for the Buckeyes and it moves them into the second round where they will face Louisville on Sunday. This is the 13th time in program history that the Buckeyes have won 30 matches in a season.
The doubles point was close as the team split the first two matches before Cannon Kingsley and JJ Tracy got the final break on court three to win 7-5. The Buckeyes were in control of singles throughout and rolled to the win.
Doubles
- ETSU got the first doubles win on court two. Thiago Pernas and Francisco Lamas secured the first break but James Trotter and Andrew Lutschaunig battled back to win the next two games and tie the match at 2-2. ETSU broke again for a 3-2 lead and would go on to win the match 6-3.
- Robert Cash and Justin Boulais got the Buckeyes even with a solid 6-3 win on court one. The Buckeyes went up 4-2 and ended up closing out the match by holding from 15-40 to win 6-3.
- Kingsley and Tracy broke for a 5-4 lead and served for the match but couldn't hold. They retook a 6-5 lead and would break again to clinch the point, winning 7-5.
Singles
- JJ Tracy hardly broke a sweat in securing the first singles win as he blew past Adam Nagoudi 6-0, 6-0.
- Freshman Alexander Bernard made it 2-0 Buckeyes as he beat James Sim 6-1, 6-3 on court five.
- Fellow freshman Jack Anthrop provided the clinching point on court six with his 6-3. 6-2 win over Francisco Lamas.
- The Buckeyes were in control on the other courts as well. Justin Boulais won the opening set and was up 4-0 in the second. James Trotter won the first set and was up a break at 4-3 in the second while Cannon Kingsley was up a set and one serve at 4-4 in the second in his match.

- Ohio State will take on Louisville in the second round on Sunday. First serve is set for noon. Louisville outlasted Texas Tech 4-3 in the opening round.
