Buckeyes Remain in Fifth Through Two Rounds of Auburn Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Maxwell Moldovan and Neal Shipley each carded rounds of 3-under 69 to lead Ohio State on day two of the NCAA Auburn Regional at the Auburn University Club. The Buckeyes carded a 5-over 293 and hold on to fifth place at 11-over par.
The top five teams and top individual not on one of those five teams at the end of the day on Wednesday will qualify for the NCAA Championship in two weeks at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
Moldovan made a total of five birdies in his round, including three in a four-hole span at the end of his opening nine. He is currently tied for fourth at 4-under par and just three shots behind the individual lead.
Shipley is a shot behind Moldovan at three-under par following his round of 69. He played his final 10 holes of the day bogey-free with four birdies. This was his sixth round in the 60s this season which ties a career-high for the Pittsburgh, Pa., native. He starts the final round tied for sixth.
JonErik Alford posted a second round 78 and is 8-over par through 36 holes. Adam Wallin carded his second-consecutive round of 5-over 77 and is 10-over par. Jackson Chandler rounded-out the Buckeyes again with a round of 81.
The Buckeyes are in the fifth and final qualifying spot but have just a one-shot cushion over Big Ten rival Indiana. TCU and Washington are three shots back and Tennessee is eight shots back. Vanderbilt, which is in fourth place, is eight shots ahead of the Buckeyes. Wednesday's final round should be a fun one to follow as a number of teams are right in the mix.
Ohio State is paired with Vanderbilt and Indiana in the final round and will tee-off the tenth tee at 9:30 a.m. ET.
