No. 8 Buckeyes Improve to 7-0 in B1G with Senior Day Shutout of Iowa

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 8 Ohio State women's tennis team posted a Senior Day shutout, as it defeated Iowa, 4-0, outside at the Auer Tennis Center Sunday. The Buckeyes, who won their eighth match in a row, improve to 15-5 overall and 7-0 in the Big Ten.
Ohio State won the doubles point vs. the Hawkeyes (9-8, 4-3 B1G) with wins on courts two and one. Shelly Bereznyak, Irina Cantos Siemers and Danielle Willson all posted straight set singles wins for the Buckeye victory.
Five Buckeye seniors were recognized before the match – Kolie Allen, Isabelle Boulais, Kathleen Jones, Lucia Marzal and Willson.

- The regular season ends with four straight road matches before the Big Ten Tournament at Purdue starting April 26.
- The Buckeyes will play at Michigan State April 14 and at Michigan April 16, followed by matches at Rutgers April 22 and Maryland April 23.
In Doubles
- The Buckeyes captured the doubles point with wins on courts two and one.
- The tandem of Isabelle Boulais and Shelly Bereznyak topped Marisa Schmidt and Daianne Hayashida, 6-1, on court two. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 3-0 lead en route to the victory.
- The Buckeyes' court one duo of seniors Danielle Willson and Kolie Allen clinched the point with a 6-3 win over Samantha Mannix and Vipasha Mehra. The Buckeyes won the first three and five of the first six games. Iowa captured the next two but Ohio State closed out the match on its serve.
- The court three doubles match between Irina Cantos Siemers and Kathleen Jones of Ohio State and Barbora Pokorna and Pia Kranholdt of Iowa was suspended with the Hawkeyes leading 5-2.
In Singles
- Ohio State won five of six first sets and closed out three in two sets for the team victory.
- 98-ranked Shelly Bereznyak put Ohio State up 2-0, as she dropped just two games vs. Vipasha Mehra, 6-0, 6-2, on court four.
- On court one, No. 21 Irina Cantos Siemers was a 6-2, 6-3 winner against Samantha Mannix. She came back from an early break in the second set and won the final three games of the match.
- Senior Danielle Willson quickly followed to clinch the team win. She defeated Barbora Pokorna, 6-3, 6-4, breaking for the match and the Buckeye win.
- Buckeyes Lucia Marzal and Kolie Allen were up a set when play was suspended and Sydni Ratliff was ahead in the second set after dropping the first.
- Bereznyak is 13-1 this spring, sharing the team lead with Marzal. Cantos Siemers is 10-4 and Willson is 6-0. Willson and Bereznyak are both a team-best 5-0 in B1G matches.
