
Minnesota Tops Ohio State in Series Finale

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State softball team concluded the home portion of its regular season schedule with a 7-0 loss to Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. The Buckeyes are 30-18 on the season and 10-10 in Big Ten play with Minnesota improved to 33-16 overall and 14-6 in conference.
The Short Story
The Gophers scored four times in the third inning, once in the sixth and twice more in the top of the seventh. Meanwhile, Minnesota pitcher Autumn Pease limited a normally potent Ohio State to three hits over seven innings to win her 22nd game of the season.

Senior Day 2023
Following the game, the Buckeyes honored four members of the Class of 2023: OF Meggie Otte, INF Mariah Rodriguez, OF Jaycee Ruberti and INF Taylor Pack.
Combined, the group has played in over 500 games and collected nearly 300 career hits. They've helped Ohio State reach the NCAA Tournament on multiple occasions and have over 130 wins to show for their efforts over the last five years.
Buckeye This and That
- Junior Allison Smith started for the 26th time this season and went 3.0 innings in her outing with five strikeouts.
- Hackenbracht had a seventh-inning double that was her 16th extra base hit of the season.
- The Buckeyes finished the home schedule with an 8-7 record, including Big Ten series wins over Michigan, Rutgers and Purdue.
- Sunday was the first game this weekend that Ohio State did not outhit Minnesota. Yesterday, the Buckeyes finished with 11 hits after getting nine on Friday night.
- Three of the four seniors honored on Sunday were also the Buckeyes' best hitters on the weekend. Jaycee Ruberti checked with a .400 average over the three games, including a home run, a triple and three RBI.
- Mariah Rodriguez hit .364 with four singles while Meggie Otte had a double and a .333 average for the weekend.
The Schedule Ahead
- The Buckeyes close out the regular season next weekend with three games in Lincoln, Neb. against Nebraska.
- Following that series, the Big Ten Tournament will be next on the schedule. This year's event takes place May 10-13 in Champaign, Ill.
