
No. 7 Buckeyes Fall to No. 6 Wolverines, 4-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In a battle of the last two unbeaten teams in Big Ten women's tennis play this season, No. 7 Ohio State fell to No. 6 Michigan, 4-1, Sunday in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines claimed the B1G regular season title with an 11-0 mark. Ohio State, which had a 29-match winning streak in conference regular season play end, is now 8-1 in B1G play.
The Wolverines won the doubles point with victories on courts three and one. In singles, Michigan moved ahead 2-0 with a court one win before Irina Cantos Siemers posted a straight-set victory to put Ohio State on the board. The match moved inside with four singles matches still on court. Michigan won the next completed in three sets for a 3-1 advantage and then closed out a straight set victory to clinch the team victory. The remaining matches were abandoned in the third set.
Up Next
The Buckeyes will close the regular season with two road matches, taking on Rutgers Saturday and Maryland Sunday. Both matches are set to start at noon. The Big Ten Tournament at Purdue follows, beginning April 26.

In Doubles
- The Buckeye tandem of Shelly Bereznyak and Isabelle Boulais won 6-3 on court two against Julia Fliegner and Lily Jones. The Buckeye tandem won the first three games en route to the victory.
- Michigan's Merri Kelly and Kari Miller took court three against Irina Cantos Siemers and Lucia Marzal. The Wolverines broke early and eventually won 6-2.
- On court one, Buckeyes Danielle Willson and Kolie Allen faced Jaedan Brown and Andrea Cerdan. After the Buckeyes held on the on-ad point to get back on serve at four-all, the Wolverines won the next two games to take the match, 6-4, and the doubles point.
In Singles
- Michigan took a 2-0 lead, as Kari Miller topped Sydni Ratliff, 6-1, 6-3, on court one.
- Irina Cantos Siemers followed with a straight set victory, as she defeated Jaedan Brown, 6-4, 6-3, on court two. She broke to win the first set and used a break for a 4-2 lead en route to the win.
- With four matches left on court, rain hit Ann Arbor and the match moved inside.
- On court four, Michigan's Lily Jones rallied after dropping the first set to defeat Isabelle Boulais, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
- The Wolverines clinched the team victory on court three, as Lucia Marzal fell to Julia Fliegner, 7-6 (9), 6-3.
- The remaining two courts were abandoned. On both, the Buckeye rallied after dropping the first set to win the second and was ahead in the third.
- Shelly Bereznyak led Andrea Cerdan on court five, 1-6, 7-5, 4-2, and Danielle Willson was ahead on court six vs. Gala Mesochoritou, 4-6, 6-4, 5-4.
