
Ohio State Earns No. 1 Seed in NCAA Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s hockey team has earned the No. 1 overall seed in the 2023 National Collegiate Women’s Ice Hockey Tournament and will play in the second round at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 11 at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes (31-5-2, 23-4-1 WCHA) will play the winner of the matchup between Penn State and Quinnipiac.
In the first round of the Columbus regional, Penn State and Quinnipiac face off Thursday, March 9 from the OSU Ice Rink. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
This year marks the second year in a row that Ohio State has earned the No. 1 overall seed and will host NCAA tournament games. The Buckeyes are making their fifth appearance, and fourth consecutive appearance, in the tournament this season. Ohio State won the 2023 WCHA regular season championship and advanced to the WCHA Final Faceoff championship game.
Four WCHA teams have made the tournament, including No. 2 seed Minnesota, Minnesota Duluth and Wisconsin.
