
Ohio State Wins Three Events on First Day of Outdoor Competition

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State track and field team began the outdoor season on Friday at the Bulls Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
Hayden Tobias earned the first win of the outdoor season for the Buckeyes with a best throw of 19.78m in the men’s shot put. Chanler Robinson won the women’s 400m hurdles (58.54). Lacey Stringer won the women’s shot put with a personal-best 16.19m.
TRACK EVENTS
- 800m: The OSU women had all four finish in the top-eight as Aniya Mosley was the runner-up (2:08.47), Gia Napoleon was third (2:08.63), Carina Napoleon was fifth (2:11.07) and Amelia Figler finished eighth (2:15.56). The Buckeye men had all three finish in the top-10 with Alex Kenish leading the way in fourth (1:48.96), Ivan Slyepkan in sixth (1:50.56) and Xavier Jemison in 10th (1:53.10).
- 200m: The Buckeye women had four of the top-10 times with Nya Bussey in third (23.52), Alyssa Marsh in fourth (23.64), Leah Bertrand in ninth (23.90) and Bryannia Murphy in 10th with a personal-best time (23.98). On the men’s side, Armani Modeste finished fourth (20.95) and Zidane Brown was ninth (21.25).
- 400m hurdles: All three Buckeye women finished in the top-10 as Amaya Ugarte (1:02.23) finished sixth and Avery Clark (1:03.57) was 10th behind C. Robinson’s win.
FIELD EVENTS
- Shot put: The Buckeye men had three place in the top-seven. Behind Tobias, Carlos Aviles finished sixth (17.77m) and Josh Miller finished seventh (17.50m). Both Buckeye women finished top-six as Faith Bender was sixth (14.52m) to follow Stringer’s win.
- Pole vault: On the women’s side, Abbey Kuhn was the runner-up (4.10m) and Morgan Fijalkowski finished eighth (3.65m). On the men’s side, Daniel Drellishak cleared a personal-best 5.00m to finish eighth, while Luke Bendick cleared the same height to finish seventh.
- Long jump: Jaimie Robinson won her flight and finished 10th overall (5.66m) on the women’s side. Shaun Miller Jr. competed in long jump for the first time and finished sixth (6.91m) on the men’s side with Clarence Foote-Talley just outside of the top-10 (6.46m).
- Hammer throw: Lacey Stringer was the women’s runner-up (52.87m), while Evan Johnson led the Ohio State men with his best mark of 52.36m.
