
Buckeye Men and Women Successful at Western Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men and women's fencing squads spent the weekend competing at the Western Invitational hosted by Air Force in Colorado Springs. Both programs were 4-1 on day one, while on day two, the men were 3-0, with the women 2-0.
The Buckeye men improve to 12-1 this season and the women are now 11-1.
Women's foil was undefeated (7-0) in the invite, while men's saber and men's epee were 7-1. The men's foil squad was 6-2, with women's saber 5-2 and women's epee 3-4.
Day One
Both squads downed Incarnate Word, Brandeis and UCSD. The men defeated Harvard but fell to Columbia, while the women downed the Lions but lost to the Crimson.
The Buckeye women's foil squad was a perfect 5-0 on the day. Men's saber and epee and women's sabre were 4-1, with men's foil 3-2 and women's epee 2-3.
Day Two
The squads combined for a perfect 5-0 day. Ohio State's men and women downed Stanford and Air Force and the men also defeated North Carolina.
For the men, the saber, foil and epee squads were all undefeated. Women's foil was 2-0, with saber and epee both 1-1.
Buckeye Leaders
For the men, Luca Fioretto and Nolan Williams led the way, with 18-3 and 18-6 records, respectively, in saber. In epee, Gabriel Feinberg was 15-6 and Miles Weiss was 13-7. For the foil squad, Edriss Ndiaye notched a 13-3 record, Justin Vogler was 12-4 and Lorenzo Mion was 9-3 over the two days.
On the women's side, Dasha Myroniuk had a team-best 18-3 record in foil, followed by Claire Teresa Galavotti who was 14-6 and Alina Lee who posted a 14-1 mark. In epee, Yeva Mazur notched a 14-4 record and Talia Weiss was 9-5. Katherine Larimer led saber with a 10-7 record and Ele Perrier was 8-8.
Elite Invitational Up Next
Ohio State will wrap up the 2023 portion of its schedule with the Elite Invitational Nov. 19 in French Field House. Admission is free, with free parking on the south side of the facility. Ohio State will welcome many of the nation's top teams for the dual event.
