How it Happened
- Joy Dunne scored at 15:37 to give Ohio State the 1-0 lead. She got the puck off the faceoff from Jordan Baxter and sent a wrister shot blocker side high of Saints goaltender Emma-Sofie Nordstrom.
- After the first period, Ohio State held St. Lawrence to just two shots on goal, with Buckeye netminder Amanda Thiele making two stops on the Saints' power play.
- St. Lawrence scored its first and only goal of the weekend on a power play at 8:50.
- Ohio State added 11 shots on goal in the second frame, but wasn't able to put any past Nordstrom as the teams went to the locker rooms tied 1-1 after 40 minutes of action.
- The Buckeyes closed the game with a four-goal third period to eventually take the game, 5-1.
- First to light the lamp in the third was Jocelyn Amos. She scored short-short handed at 1:36Â after the Buckeyes were called for delay of game to start the period. As the Saints attempted to start an offensive rush with 30 seconds left in their power play, she recovered the puck in the neutral zone and took it herself to the St. Lawrence net. While her original shot didn't go through, she collected the rebound and backdoored the goaltender to put Ohio State back in the lead.
- Jenn Gardiner continued the special teams scoring, adding a goal on the Buckeye's fifth power play opportunity of the day. Hannah Bilka sent a pass across the ice to Gardiner, who lined up for the shot from the top of the faceoff circle. She finished glove side high of Nordstrom at 5:53 to give the Buckeyes the 3-1 advantage.
- At 15:42 in the third, Makenna Webster took a shot to the right of Nordstrom that got deflected into the goal. The Buckeyes were leading 4-1 with under five minutes to play in the game.
- Ohio State's final goal of the weekend was scored by Jenna Buglioni with 50 seconds remaining. Hadley Hartmetz connected with Buglioni across the Saints defensive zone and Buglioni made a move around her defender before lighting the lamp.
- Thiele made four stops in the third to hold St. Lawrence to its lone goal in the second period.
