COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 Ohio State women's hockey team earned a dominant win Friday evening over sixth-ranked St. Lawrence at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes (12-1-0, 10-0-0 WCHA) shut out the Saints, 11-0, with 16 of 18 skaters recording a point in the team's program record night.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 1 Ohio State women's hockey team earned a dominant win Friday evening over sixth-ranked St. Lawrence at the OSU Ice Rink. The Buckeyes (12-1-0, 10-0-0 WCHA) shut out the Saints, 11-0, with 16 of 18 skaters recording a point in the team's program record night.
How it Happened
- Lauren Bernard tallied the first goal of the day 4:36 into the game. She received a pass in the slot from Kenzie Hauswirth and finished glove-side high of St. Lawrence's Emma-Sofie Norstrom.
- After 20 minutes, the Buckeyes had a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal.
- In the second period, the Buckeyes unloaded on the Saints, scoring seven goals in the frame.
- Sloane Matthews gave Ohio State the 2-0 lead 17 seconds into the period with both teams skating with four players as penalties from the first period carried over into the second.
- Jennifer Gardiner tallied the Buckeyes' third goal of the game at 4:49. She intended to pass the puck in front of the St. Lawrence goal, but the pass got deflected into the net by a defenseman.
- Kiara Zanon made it 4-0 Buckeyes at 7:55. Makenna Webster sent a pass off the glass that found Zanon rushing into the Saints' zone. She was 1-on-1 with the goaltender and successfully took advantage of that opportunity to strengthen the Buckeyes' lead.
- Kelsey King and Makenna Webster were responsible for four of the team's seven second period goals, with each scoring two goals, one after the other.
- King's first goal found the back of the net at 7:55, as she sent the puck between the legs of St. Lawrence goaltender Kassidy Lawrence. She scored her second of the day at 17:19 into the period, skating the puck into the Saints' zone from center ice and beating her defender to finish bar down for the team's seventh goal of the day.
- Webster scored her goals at the 15:12 and 19:11 mark in the middle frame. Both of her goals were one-timed in from right outside the goalie crease.
- In the third period, freshmen Jocelyn Amos and Joy Dunne lit the lamp for the Buckeyes. Amos scored at the 1:07 and 12:39 mark with Dunne scoring her goal, and the team's final of the night, at 14:06.
- Buckeye netminder Raygan Kirk made 15 saves on the day to earn the shutout.
Game Notes
- Ohio State's 11 goals against St. Lawrence are a program record for goals in a game. The team bested its previous record of 10 goals, last scored against Lindenwood (Jan. 8, 2022 – W, 10-0). The team also matched the program record for goals in a period with seven in the second frame.
- Raygan Kirk posted her third shutout of the season in the game, which was her seventh win of the year. The Ste. Anne, Manitoba native now has a season save percentage of .943.
- With the win, the Buckeyes even the series and improves to 7-7-0 all-time against the Saints.
- Jocelyn Amos, (2G, 1A), Hadley Hartmetz (3A), Kenzie Hauswirth (3A), Stephanie Markowski (3A), Makenna Webster (2G, 1A) and Kiara Zanon (1G, 2A) all tied for the team lead with three points. Amos and Hauswirth each recorded career-highs in points.
- Overall, Ohio State had 16 players record a point in the game and nine finish with 2+ points.
- Lauren Bernard, who tallied a goal and an assist for the Buckeyes, and Markowski finished the game with a team and career-high +5 on ice.
- Hartmetz and Markowski's three assists are also career highs.
- Webster's three points were her first of the season. She is back with the team full-time after also playing with the field hockey team this fall.
- Ohio State improves to 8-1-0 against ranked teams and is now 2-1-0 against non-conference opponents this year.
