
Ohio State Concludes Fall Schedule With Two Wins over UTEP

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State University rifle team traveled to El Paso, Texas over the weekend to compete in a pair of matches with the host Miners. The Buckeyes posted scores of 4702 (UTEP – 4591) and 4712 (UTEP – 4584) on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
On Saturday, Ohio State fired a team aggregate score of 4702 and was paced by Paige Hollowell and Viktor Kiss, who both had aggregate scores of 1180. In smallbore, the Buckeyes finished with a team score of 2334;Â Paige Hollowell (586), Viktor Kiss (584), Lillian Warren (583), Derek Keiser (581), and Nathan Wehrlen (578) all contributed to the team score. Dylan Gregory led the way for Ohio State's individuals with a career best score of 583 while John Hamilton (572) rounded out individual scoring. In air rifle, the team had a score of 2368 with Viktor Kiss (596), Paige Hollowell (594), Derek Keiser (593), John Hamilton (585), and Lillian Warren (584) contributing to the team score while Dylan Gregory (587), and Nathan Wehrlen (583) rounded out individual scoring.Â
On Sunday, the Buckeyes posted an aggregate score of 4712, which is the fourth highest aggregate score in program history. Ohio State was led by Derek Keiser, who equaled his career best aggregate score of 1185. In smallbore, Ohio State fired a team score of 2337 with Derek Keiser (590), Viktor Kiss (584), Lillian Warren (582), Paige Hollowell (581), and Dylan Gregory (573) contributing to the team score while John Hamilton (576), and Nathan Wehrlen (571) rounded out individual scoring. In air rifle, the Buckeyes had a team score of 2375 which was the second highest air rifle score in program history. Paige Hollowell equaled her career best with a score of 596 while Derek Keiser and Viktor Kiss both fired scores of 595. Lillian Warren (589), and John Hamilton (587) rounded out team scoring while Dylan Gregory (588) and Nathan Wehrlen (583) rounded out individual scoring.Â
Coach Tanoue: "We rounded out the fall portion of our season with a really solid weekend in El Paso. Firing the 4712 on Sunday raised our three-score average to 4711.67 which is the highest in program history and the team has now fired scores over 4700 in seven consecutive matches which has been fantastic. The team will head into what will be a very well deserved Thanksgiving and winter break with quite a few records already set this season and more to come in the spring."
