COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (10-16, 7-10 B1G) wraps up its 2023 road schedule at RV Minnesota (13-11, 9-7 B1G) on Saturday night. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET in a match broadcast on BTN.
- Ohio State holds a 10-16 record this season and a 7-10 record in Big Ten play after a Wednesday night five-set loss (18-25, 26-24, 25-20, 19-25, 6-15) at Illinois. Emily Londot became the second Big Ten player this season to reach 30 kills and added 13 digs for her sixth double-double in the last eight matches. Mia Tuman's 42 assists and 12 digs gave her a fourth-consecutive double-double. Sarah Sue Morbitzer (13), Sydney Taylor (12) and Anna McClure (10) also recorded 10+ digs.
- Londot continues to lead Ohio State's offense and the Big Ten in kills/set (4.96) and points/set (5.40). She's among the top-six in the country in both categories as of Thursday.
- Lauren Murphy leads OSU with 35 aces, ranking third in the B1G (0.43 aces/set) after a career-high seven aces against Minnesota on Nov. 3.
- Tuman ranks fourth in the Big Ten in assists/set (9.59) and broke into the top-20 in program history on 10/21, now ranking 17th with 873 assists.
- Minnesota holds a 13-11 overall record and a 9-7 Big Ten record heading into the weekend as the Gophers are scheduled to host Iowa on Friday evening.
- Since last playing Ohio State on Nov. 3, the Gophers earned road wins against Northwestern and Indiana and fell in four sets at home to then No. 16 Purdue.
- Kylie Murr leads the back-row defense for the Gophers with 4.06 digs/set, which ranks sixth in the Big Ten. Minnesota has two blockers in the B1G top-10 with Phoebe Awoleye at sixth (1.25/set) and Arica Davis at 10th (1.13/set). Lydia Grote is ninth in the B1G with 0.32 aces/set and Melani Shaffmaster is 10th in assists/set (8.73).
- Ohio State trails 36-51 in the all-time series against Minnesota and 13-27 when facing the Gophers in Minneapolis.
- The Buckeyes fell in four sets (21-25, 25-14, 22-25, 18-25) when the Gophers visited Columbus earlier this month.
- The teams met three times last season with Ohio State winning two of the matches. On Oct. 12, 2022, OSU earned the sweep (25-20, 25-21, 25-22) at Minnesota. The Gophers earned a four-set win (20-25, 25-21, 25-21, 26-24) in Columbus on Nov. 25. The teams met in the NCAA Regional Semifinals on Dec. 8 at Texas with OSU winning in four sets (22-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-19).
