No. 19 Buckeyes Drop Series Finale at Notre Dame, 3-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 19 Ohio State men's hockey team dropped game two at Notre Dame, 3-0, Saturday to wrap up the Big Ten weekend series in South Bend. The Irish (6-3-2, 2-0-1 0-0-1 B1G) scored once in each period for the win and series sweep of the Buckeyes (3-5-3, 0-4-1, 0-0-1 B1G).

- The Buckeyes killed off two early penalties to start the game, allowing just three shots on goal in the two chances combined. Ohio State had one power play chance in the first.
- With time winding down in the first, Patrick Moynihan put a rebound off a Buckeye defenseman and in with 2.8 seconds left in the period.
- Shots were 12-4 in favor of Notre Dame in the opening 20 minutes.
- Moynihan added his second of the night at 10:07 of the second period, when his shot from near the post deflected in.
- Ohio State had two power plays in the second period and the Irish had one that carried into the third. The Buckeyes had the edge in shots, 13-10, in the stanza.
- The Buckeyes pulled their goalie for the extra attacker with 3:07 remaining and the Irish were able to take advantage. After a turnover by the ND blueline, Cole Knuble carried into the Buckeye zone and scored from the left wing at 17:48.
- In the third, Irish goalie Ryan Bischel stopped all nine Buckeye attempts to close out the shutout. Notre Dame also had nine shots on goal in the final period.
- Buckeye goalie Logan Terness made 28 saves in 59:05. The Irish ended the game ahead in shots on goal, 31-26.
- Brent Johnson and Patrick Guzzo led the Buckeyes with two shot blocks each and Ohio state had 10 as a team.
- Neither team allowed a power play goal. Ohio State was 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, with Notre Dame 4-for-4.
