
Garret Open at Penn State Up Next

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State fencing team is heading to Penn State this weekend for the Garret Open. The women's competitions will be Saturday, with the men competing Sunday. Action is slated to start at 9 a.m. each day in the White Building in University Park, Pa.
Noting the Buckeyes
·      This weekend is the first road trip for the Scarlet and Gray.
·      Ohio State last competed at Penn State in 2021, with Miles Weiss winning the men's epee title. Current Buckeyes Paul Veltrup and Nolan Williams also claimed Top 3 finishes. Current director of operations Julieta Toledo was the saber champion to lead the women. Eleven Buckeye women and 13 men on the current roster competed in the 2021 event. Â
·      The squad opened the year hosting the OSU Open and OSU Duals Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, respectively.
·      In the OSU Open, five Buckeyes – Lucy Whittemore, Katherine Larimer, Lorenzo Mion, Matthew Bülau and Luca Fioretto – won event titles. In all, 28 Buckeyes recorded a Top 8 finish.
·      Both the men's and women's squads were 5-0 in the OSU Duals.
 The Schedule Ahead
·      Ohio State will travel to Colorado for the Western Invitational hosted by Air Force Nov. 4-5.
·      The squad will then return home for the Elite Invitational Nov. 19 in French Field House.
·      The first events of the new year will be the St. John's Invitational Jan. 20 and the Philadelphia Invitational the following day.
·      The Northwestern Duals wrap up the regular season Feb. 3-4.
·      The Central Collegiate Fencing Championships are slated for Feb. 24-25 and the NCAA Regionals are set for March 2.
·      Ohio State will host the 2024 NCAA Championships March 21-24 in French Field House.
