COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a frustrating game on Thursday night, Ohio State rebounded in a big way, knocking off No. 12 Wisconsin 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Madison.
The win is the second of the season over a ranked team for the Buckeyes who improve to 8-5-2 and 4-3-1 in Big Ten play. Wisconsin falls for the first time in its last five matches and is now 10-3-3 and 5-2-1.
Junior forward Kailyn Dudukovich scored her 10th goal of the season, becoming the 16th player in program history with 10 or more goals in a season.
How it Happened
Neither team scored in the opening half as the defenses stood tall. There was just a total of five shots in the half. The best Buckeye chance came on the left foot Dudukovich as she received a long pass from Sydney Jones, turned and laced a shot that went just over the bar.
The Buckeyes scored the game's lone goal in the 59th minute. Freshman Amanda Schlueter took the ball from midfield and played it forward to Dudukovich, who did a great job of staying onside and had a clear path to goal. She slipped a shot past the oncoming keeper and the Buckeyes had the lead.
Wisconsin scored with 11 seconds left in its Thursday night win, so the Buckeyes had to defend until the final gun. And that's just what they did. The Badgers mustered just one shot over the final 30 minutes.
Molly Pritchard made three saves en route to recording her third shutout of the season.
Up Next
The Buckeyes will finish the regular season with a pair of home matches next week. They start by hosting Rutgers on Thursday evening with a 6 p.m. kick on BTN.
