COLUMBUS, Ohio – On a rainy, cool night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, Rutgers scored an early second half goal and would hold on for a 1-0 victory over Ohio State.
The Buckeyes are 8-6-2 overall on the season and 4-4-1 in the Big Ten Conference and still in the race for a spot in the Big Ten Tournament.
Keeper Molly Pritchard made a career-high eight saves in the games while the Buckeyes posted 16 shots.
How it Happened
The rain was the hardest in the first half and that was when the Buckeyes were with the wind. They created a number of chances in the first half as Emma Sears recorded a season-high six shot attempts. Neither team scored in the opening 45 minutes as the shots were 12-10 in favor of the Buckeyes.
Under a lighter rain and with the wind, Rutgers scored right out of the locker room in the 49th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Buckeyes just couldn't find the equalizer the rest of the way.
Rutgers led 20-16 in shot attempts while the Buckeyes had the upper-hand in corner kicks at 8-5.
