COLUMBUS, Ohio – The scoreboard may have read 0-0 but Ohio State and No. 18 Texas A&M played an entertaining scoreless match on a muggy Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
The teams got up and down the field in a track meet style contest despite the warm conditions. The Buckeyes are now 3-1-1 on the season while Texas A&M leaves down at 4-0-2.
How it Happened
Both teams played well at times in the opening half, but neither were able to put a shot on frame in the first 45 minutes. The Buckeyes controlled the pace in the first 20 minutes and had a great opportunity between forward Emma Sears and Kayla Fischer but the cross was just a bit in front of the foot of Fischer.
In the second half, both teams came out attacking and registered shots on goal within the first 10 minutes. Texas A&M held the attack a little longer at the onset of the second half but by the end, it was all Buckeyes. They seemed to be building towards a goal, notching a pair of shots in the final minute, but wasn’t able to find the back of the net.
Ohio State held a 15-14 edge on shots and 4-2 in shots on goals. The Buckeyes also took 10 corners to just two for the Aggies.
Notes
- This was the first draw of the season for the Buckeyes
- Keepers Kat Robinson and Molly Pritchard continue to split the halves and on Sunday, the combined for their third shutout in the first five contests.
- Kayla Fischer led the team with five shots and she is now fourth alone in program history with 254 career shots
