
No. 8 Buckeyes Now 5-0 in B1G with 4-0 Win over Spartans

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With a 4-0 win over Michigan State, the No. 8-ranked Ohio State women's tennis improved to 5-0 in Big Ten play this season. The Buckeyes, now 12-4 overall, won the doubles point and three straight-set singles matches for the victory against the Spartans (9-8, 1-5 B1G) inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Sydni Ratliff and Irina Cantos Siemers both posted singles and doubles wins, while Isabelle Boulais also won in singles and Kathleen Jones and Lucia Marzal were part of doubles victories.

Ohio State will close its three-match homestand at 3 p.m. Friday when it hosts Northwestern. The match is scheduled to be played outside at the Auer Tennis Complex, but will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in the event of inclement weather. Admission and parking are free on match day. The Buckeyes will then play three road matches in a row, starting at Purdue next Sunday at noon. Ohio State will then play at Minnesota at 4:30 p.m. ET April 15 and at Wisconsin at noon April 17.

"To leave this weekend against Michigan and Michigan State with two wins is always good. I feel like we are in a good place as a team right now and we are competing hard every match. We need to be ready for a really good Northwestern team that's coming in here Friday. We will turn the page to that match and then the road matches that follow."
In Doubles
- With wins on courts two and three, the Buckeyes won the doubles point for a 1-0 lead.
- Irina Cantos Siemers and Lucia Marzal dropped just one game against Nicole Stephens and Tia Mukherjee on court three.
- On court two, the duo of Sydni Ratliff and Kathleen Jones followed with a 6-2 victory over Ayshe Can and Charlotte Gisclon. The Buckeyes won the final three games for the win to clinch the doubles point.
- On court one, Buckeye seniors Kolie Allen and Isabelle Boulais had rallied from a 0-3 hole to lead 4-3 when doubles play was suspended.
In Singles
- 26-ranked Boulais put the Buckeyes up 2-0, as she downed Lewis on court two, 6-2, 6-3. She won the final four games of the first set and the first three of the second en route to the straight set victory.
- 8-ranked Cantos Siemers followed with a straight set win of her own, downing Pietrowicz on court two, 6-4, 6-1. Cantos won three games in a row in the first set for a 4-2 lead and maintained the advantage the rest of the set.
- Ratliff clinched her second team victory of the weekend. On court four, the freshman won 6-3, 6-1 over Stephens. She won three of the final four games in the opening set and the final five of the second set.
- The Buckeyes won two of the other first sets, with the second sets underway on all three courts when the match was clinched.
