COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State has finished in the Top 6 in all six events this spring and will look for another title this weekend at the Big Ten Championship. The tournament is being played on the Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind. Tee times start at 9 a.m. for the first two rounds and at 8 a.m. on Sunday
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will include Maxwell Modovan, Adam Wallin, Marco Steyn, Patrick Schmucking and JonErik Alford.
- The Buckeyes have won the Big Ten Tournament 23 times, but not since 2004. Individually, 18 Buckeyes have claimed medalist honors. Howard Baker (1945, 1947) and John Cook (1978, 1979) each won the title twice.
- Last season, Ohio State finished fifth at Crooked Stick behind a 10th place finish from Felix Kvarnstrom. Maxwell Moldovan finished tied for 13th and Adam Wallin was tied for 18th.
- Ohio State has finished in the Top 6 at each of its last of last seven events and has been under-par in the last five tournaments.
- The Buckeyes are coming off a runner-up finish at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. That was their third 1st or 2nd place finish this season.
- The Buckeyes won the Southern Invitational and have had four medalists this spring.
- Moldovan has been simply brilliant this year. He has three wins this spring, including a two-shot victory at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate last weekend. He leads the team with a 70.33 scoring average and has carded 13 consecutive rounds at par or better.
- Adam Wallin finished tied for eighth at the Kepler, marking his fifth Top 10 finish this season. He is just behind Moldovan in scoring at 71.09 and has 10 rounds in the 60s.
- Patrick Schmucking carded rounds of 70-72-74 at the Kepler and improved his scoring average to 73.13. He has three Top 20 finishes and is tied for the team lead in eagles made.
- Marco Steyn, who transferred from Wake Forest at the beginning of the season, will be playing in his first conference championship. He is fourth on the team with a 73.27 scoring average and has posted a round in the 60s in each of his last four events.
- JonErik Alford carded a second-round 68 at the Kepler and posted his second Top 20 finish of the season as he tied for 19th at 1-over par. This will be his 10th event of the season after not having played in more than two events in any of his first three seasons. He is averaging 73.42 and has made the third-most birdies on the team.
