COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 4 ranked Ohio State claimed its sixth consecutive victory with a solid 6-1 win over in-state rival Xavier on Saturday.
The win lifts the Buckeyes to 8-3 on the season and keeps the momentum rolling into a big upcoming week. Ohio State will play three matches on the road next week at No. 23 Georgia on Wednesday and then at Iowa and Nebraska over the weekend.
The doubles point was a bit of a grind for the Buckeyes but they got wins from Kathleen Jones and Shelly Bereznyak at No. 3 and from the 15th-ranked team of Sydni Ratliff and Irina Cantos to claim the point. In singles, OSU claimed five of the six first sets and would go on to five straight-set victories.
