COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s golf team looks to keep rolling this week at the Southern Invitational in Palm Beach, Fla. The Buckeyes are coming off their lowest score of the season last week at the Colleton River Collegiate and have back-to-back Top 4 finishes. The first two rounds will be played on Monday with the final round on Tuesday. Golfstat will have live scoring both days.
- Ohio State’s lineup this week will be the same as it was last week with Adam Wallin, Maxwell Modovan, Patrick Schmucking, JonErik Alford and Marco Steyn.
- The Buckeyes have finished second and fourth at its first two events this spring.
- Ohio State has also boasted a medalist in the first two events with Maxwell Moldovan winning the NEXUS Collegiate and Adam Wallin winning the Colleton River Collegiate last week.
- The Buckeyes are the highest ranked team in the field this week
- Wallin was named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week this past week after winning the Colleton River Collegiate. He shot a career-best 14-under par, which tied the school’s lowest 54-hole score in relation to par since 1980.
- Wallin has six rounds in the 60s this year, including five of the last seven rounds.
- Moldovan claimed his first collegiate victory at the NEXUS Collegiate. Was also named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Feb. 23 following his victory.
- Moldovan leads the Buckeyes with a scoring average of 71.73. He has three Top 20 finishes in five events this season.
- Wallin has finished in the Top 10 in the last three events and is second being Moldovan was a 71.91 scoring average
- JonErik Alford shot a 3-under 69 in the final round of the Colleton River Collegiate and finished at even-par for the event. He has four rounds at par or better and is thid on the team with 37 birdies
- The Buckeyes were 17-under par at the Colleton River Collegiate which was their lowest score of the year. They have finished in the Top 4 in each of their last three events.
- Temperatures this week in Palm Beach are expected to be around 80 degrees on both Monday and Tuesday with a chance of rain in the afternoon on Tuesday.
