COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Maxwell Moldovan claimed his first collegiate victory last week and has been named the Big Ten Men’s Golfer of the Week. This is the first Golfer of the Week honor of his career.
Moldovan won the Nexus Collegiate at The Albany Club in the Bahamas last week. It was a brutally windy week in the Bahamas as the average score for the three days was 79.87 (+22). The Uniontown, Ohio native shot rounds of 72-73-77 to finish at +6. That was 16 shots better than the field average and it was good enough for a two-shot victory over a trio of players. He made 10 birdies on the week, which was second-best in the field.
The victory was Moldovan’s sixth Top 10 finish of his career and his third consecutive this season. Moldovan is the first Buckeye to be named Big Ten Player of the Week since Daniel Wetterich on April 24, 2019, following his victory that year at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.
Moldovan and the Buckeyes will next be in action at the Colleton River Collegiate on March 7-8.
