COLUMBUS, Ohio – Hailey Massaro, a senior infielder at Triway High School and native of Wooster, Ohio, will continue her academic and athletic career as a member of the Ohio State softball program, head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly announced today.
Massaro is a two-sport athlete at Triway, earning varsity letters in both softball and volleyball. Last spring as a junior, she was an All-Ohio selection and the area player of the year after tying the state record with 86 RBI. Massaro is already Triway’s career home run leader in addition to being a first team all-conference and the district most valuable player.
“We are excited to add a lifetime camper to our 2022 class,” said Kovach Schoenly. “We’ve known Hailey for five years and it’s through our camp program that we’ve watched her grow into one of the most feared hitters in the state. Hailey’s best qualities are her overall athleticism and her versatility around the field. We can’t wait to coach her as a Buckeye.”
In just two full seasons, Massaro has hit .558 with 22 home runs, 120 RBI and 93 runs scored.
As a freshman in 2019, Massaro led Triway in batting average (.525), home runs (eight) and RBI (34) while earning all-conference and all-district honors. On the volleyball court, Massaro was a four-year letterwinner as a setter for the Titans.
During the summer months, Massaro played for the Ohio Hawks. In 2021, she helped her team to a second-place showing at the Junior Olympic Cup while leading the squad in both home runs and RBI.
When she gets to Ohio State, Massaro plans to major in dental hygiene. An excellent student, she was inducted into the National Honors Society as a sophomore and has been the treasurer of the student council since her freshman year.
