Taking the Ice
The Ohio State Buckeyes’ women’s ice hockey team faced off against Minnesota over the weekend. Heading into the weekend series, the Buckeyes were ranked third and the Golden Gophers were ranked second by the USCHO.com Poll.

Warming Up
The Buckeyes take the ice for warmups ahead of the series, their second-to-last home series of the season. As the team prepares in Columbus, there are six Buckeyes preparing in Beijing for the 2022 Winter Olympics, representing five different countries.

The Line Up
Both teams are announced to a lively crowd at the OSU Ice Rink. Before this weekend, the Buckeyes are 21-78-5 against the Gophers all-time, however Ohio State has won the last five meetings against Minnesota. Since Coach Muzerall’s arrival in 2016, the Buckeyes are 6-6-0 against the Gophers at the OSU Ice Rink.

Making Plays

Right: Senior Defenseman Sophie Jacques makes a play behind the Minnesota goal. Jaques scored once and notched four assists in the series, and with 44 points this year is just one point shy of Tessa Bonhomme’s 2007-08 single-season record 45 points by a Buckeye defenseman.
Celebrations
Left: Graduate Forward Liz Schepers scored the overtime winner on Friday, moving her to fourth in Ohio State history for career game-winning goals.

For the Win
The thrilling overtime win on Friday night and a comeback that fell just short on Saturday resulted in the Buckeyes moving up to No. 2 in the USCHO.com Poll. Ohio State will play the final home series of the year against No. 3 Wisconsin on February 18 and 19.
