
Davis Named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference released its weekly volleyball awards on Monday. Freshman middle blocker Arica Davis was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week for the second-straight week, following her performance at the Red Raider Classic.
Davis continued to be a threat on the net for Ohio State as the Buckeyes went 3-0 at the Red Raider Classic to improve to 5-0 on the season. Davis posted a team-high 15 blocks (two solo, 1.50 per set) at the tournament, also totaling 19 kills and hitting .517.
She began the weekend with a season-high seven kills against Rhode Island, hitting .778 and totaling four blocks. Davis recorded her second-highest total of the season with eight blocks against Texas State, also registering six kills. She wrapped up the weekend with six kills against Texas Tech. Davis leads Ohio State with 33 blocks (four solo, 1.94 blocks per set) this season after leading the country in blocks per set during opening weekend.
