** Parking Note –There is a concert at Value City Arena in the Schottenstein Center on Thursday night as well. Soccer fans are advised to use Ackerman Road then turn onto Fred Taylor Drive for easier access to the parking lots. Gray Lot 6 & 7 will be held for the soccer match. Soccer fans can also park in the Buckeye Lot. The north gate of JOMS will be open for public access.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State returns home to Minnesota in its Big Ten home opener on Thursday evening. First kick is set for 7 p.m. and the match will be streamed on B1G+. The Buckeyes are 5-2 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium this season.
Tickets and parking are free for all Ohio State women’s soccer games.
- Coming off its first road win of the season, Ohio State returns home looking for a second-consecutive Big Ten win when it hosts Minnesota on Thursday evening.
- The all-time series between the two programs is tied at 12-12-4. The teams did not meet last spring during the shortened season. The last meeting was in 2019 when the Gophers claimed a 1-0 win in Minneapolis.
- The last match between the two teams in Columbus was on Sept. 17, 2015, which was also a 2-1 Minnesota victory. The Buckeyes have just one win in the last six meetings with the Gophers.
- Ohio State opened Big Ten play last Sunday with a 2-1 victory at Maryland. Freshman Kailyn Dudukovich scored in the 89th minute to push the Buckeyes through. OSU is 6-3-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in the conference.
- Minnesota comes in off its first loss of the season, a 2-1 setback to Wisconsin at home last Saturday. The Gophers opened the season with an impressive 1-0 win over Baylor and also have wins over Drake, Wyoming and North Dakota. Keeper Megan Plaschko is sixth in the country in save percentage and her six shutouts are the most by any keeper in the country.
- Senior Kayla Fischer leads the Buckeyes in points this season with 13 as she has four goals and five assists. She continues to lead the Big Ten in shots per game at 4.75.
- Emma Sears leads the team and is fifth in the conference with five goals on the season. Three of those five goals have been game-winners which is tops in the conference.
- Kine Flotre is tied for the Big Ten lead with six assists on the year.
- Graduate Emaly Vatne’s goal vs. TCU was her first goal since her freshman year. She also has three assists on the year after assisting on Dudukovich’s game-winner vs. Maryland.
- Freshman forward Kailyn Dudukovich has three goals on the season which is second-most of any Big Ten freshman this season.
News and Nuggets
- Ohio State opened Big Ten play with a road win at Maryland, 2-1 on Sunday, Sept. 19. The Buckeyes have not lost in their last four Big Ten road contests.
- The four goals scored against No. 18 UCF was the most against a ranked opponent since the Buckeyes beat No. 23 Indiana 6-0 on Nov. 1, 2009.
- Ohio State is 48th in the first RPI report of the fall
- In goal, Bailey Kolinski has started the last 23 games. She has six career shutouts.
- Izzy Rodriguez is the reigning Big Ten Defender of the Year and a third team United Soccer Coaches All-American. She is also on the MAC Hermann Award Watch List.
- Kayla Fischer leads the team with 13 points. She is fifth in the conference in points per game and leads the conference in shots per game.
- Fischer had 11 points in a four-match stretch from Aug. 29 – Sept. 5. That is the most points by a Buckeye in a four-match stretch since Tiffany Cameron notched 18 points in a four-match stretch in late October of 2012.
- Emma Sears has a team-high five goals on the year. Three of those goals have been game-winners which is tops in the Big Ten.
- Midfielder Kine Flotre has been making things happen out of the midfield this season. She leads the team with six assists which is tied for the most in the Big Ten.
- Freshman Kailyn Dudukovich has three goals this season which is second-most by a Big Ten freshman this season.
- Junior Kitty Jones Black has four assists this season, the first four of her career. She notched a pair of helpers in the 4-2 win over No. 18 UCF.
- Midfielder Brittany Duncan scored her first collegiate goal late in the win over Dayton (Sept. 9)
- Graduate Emaly Vatne scored a goal against TCU, her first goal since her freshman year in 2018.
- Midfielder Christin Baumbick tallied her first collegiate goal at Maryland on Sept. 19.
