COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State finished the regular season last Sunday with the low round of the day at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate and will look to build on that this week as the Buckeyes head to the Big Ten Championship. This year’s event will be played at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. The 54-hole event starts on Friday with the final round set for Sunday.
- The Buckeyes lineup this weekend features a mix of youth and experience. Freshmen Maxwell Moldovan and Adam Wallin are joined by sophomore Jackson Chandler and seniors Felix Kvarnstrom and Elis Svard.
- The Buckeyes have won the Big Ten Tournament 23 times, but the last time came back in 2004.
- In 2019, Ohio State finished seventh which followed a runner-up finish and a third place finish the previous two years.
- The Buckeyes played at Crooked Stick in the fall of 2019 at the Crooked Stick Invitational. They finished fifth as a team. Kvarnstrom led the group with a ninth-place finish at 2-over par.
- Ohio State is coming off a third-place showing last weekend at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. The Buckeyes carded a final round of 1-under 283 which was the low round of the day by five and jumped them five shots on the team leaderboard.
- Chandler led five Buckeyes who all finished in the Top 25 at the Kepler. The Dublin, Ohio native opened the tournament with a round of 4-under 67 which was tied for the lowest of the event. He finished the 54 holes in a tie for seventh, his first Top 10 finish of the season.
- Freshman Maxwell Moldovan leads the team in scoring 71.00 and has three Top 10 finishes. He also tops the squad with eight rounds in the 60s and 13 of his 18 rounds have been at par or better.
- Felix Kvarnstrom is third on the team with a 72.56 scoring average and has made a team-high 58 birdies.
- Svard has had good runs at conference championships in the past. He won the CCAA Championship twice and finished runner-up in his other appearance while at CSU Monterey Bay.
- Very little rain is in the forecast this weekend in Carmel. Temperatures are expected to be in the 60s on Friday and then in the 70s on Saturday and Sunday.
