
Season Ends with Setback to Florida in NCAA Regional Semifinal

OMAHA, Neb. – The ninth-seeded Ohio State women’s volleyball team fell to eighth-seeded Florida, 3-1 (25-20, 26-24, 23-25, 25-16), on Sunday night in the Regional Semifinal of the NCAA Tournament at the CHI Health Center Omaha. With the loss, the Buckeyes finished the season at 16-4 while the Gators improved to 21-3.
Ohio State was led by Emily Londot, who had her fourth consecutive double-double on a match-high 19 kills and 11 digs. Gabby Gonzales had her own double-double performance behind 12 kills and 11 digs. Rylee Rader added nine kills and a team-best five blocks while Lauren Witte hit .500 with four kills on eight error-free attempts and three rejections. Mac Podraza totaled 46 assists, nine digs, five kills and three blocks. Hannah Gruensfelder and Kylie Murr contributed 17 digs apiece.
SET 1: Florida opened the match with an 8-6 edge but a Rader-Gonzales block and two Gator attacking errors tied the score at 11-all. The Gators bounced back, stringing together four straight points to go up 20-14 before eventually taking the set, 25-20.
SET 2: Gonzales connected on five straight kills to put the Buckeyes ahead 7-4. Florida made up the difference to lock the rally at 12 but Ohio State responded by scoring the next three points. Back-to-back kills by Rader sent the Gators to their bench down 17-13. Florida found its momentum late as it closed the set on a 6-0 run for a 26-24 decision.
SET 3: Mia Grunze came off the bench and converted on all four of her swings to tie things up at nine-all. After exchanging points, Ohio State used a 4-0 scoring sprint to take a 19-15 lead. The Gators cut the deficit to one but a clutch solo rejection by Witte sealed a 25-23 Buckeye victory.
SET 4: Ohio State called for time after falling behind 7-2. Florida extended its advantage to 13-4 with five straight points. The Buckeyes tried to battle back with a 5-0 run of their own but came up short in the end, 25-16.
