PHOENIX, Ariz. – After a decent opening round on Friday morning, Ohio State had a tough second round and is currently in 16th place through 36 holes of the ASU Thunderbird Invitational at the Papago Golf Club in Phoenix.
The Buckeyes started well as they were 5-under par through the first four holes of the day. But it was holes 3-6 that bit the Buckeyes in the second round. They finished the first round with a 5-under 279 and then posted a 10-over 294 in the afternoon.
Freshman Adam Wallin led the way with a pair of even-par rounds of 71. Jackson Chandler, Elis Svard and Felix Kvarnstrom are all in at 3-over pair and Maxwell Moldovan is a shot further back at 4-over.
Junior Grant Engle, playing as an individual this weekend, is 2-over par with three holes to play in his second round. Darkness fell with a handful of groups left out on the course.
The second round will finish up first thing on Saturday morning followed immediately by the final round.
