Multiple Buckeyes Qualify for Individual NCAA Championships

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The No. 5 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team had multiple gymnasts earn spots to compete for individual titles at the NCAA Championships after a series of performances at the NCAA Qualifier on Friday.
Although the Buckeyes came up short in the overall team competition, they will have at least two gymnasts competing on every event when the finals take place on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET live on the Big Ten Network.
Jesse Tyndall won the all-around crown during Session I of the qualifier with a score of 81.665 and will contend for the championship title. The junior had a season-high 14.766 on floor and a 14.033 on high bar to pick up a pair of first-place finishes.
The top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor will also have the opportunity to fight for a title.
Kazuki Hayashi advanced to the championships on floor (13.866) while Luke Smigliani will compete on pommel horse (12.833). Josh Seltzer (13.333) earned a spot in the rings lineup. Dexter Roettker, who tied for second place with a 14.733, and Donovan Hewitt (14.300) both clinched a chance to compete for the vault title. Parallel bars will also see multiple Buckeyes in Sean Neighbarger (12.933) and Tyler Rockwood (12.833). Domenic Sciulli will be in the high bar competition (13.166).
