
Ohio State Falls to No. 4 Nebraska in Five

LINCOLN, Neb. – The No. 11 Ohio State women’s volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season, a 3-2 setback to No. 4 Nebraska on Friday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Buckeyes have a 12-1 record while the Huskers move to 10-1.
Emily Londot posted her fourth double-double on 23 kills and a career-high 17 digs. Vanja Bukilic matched her season mark with 16 kills and Rylee Rader tallied 14 kills, a new personal best, on .591 hitting.
Mac Podraza turned in a season-high 53 assists, her fifth time with at least 50 helpers this season. Kylie Murr earned 23 digs for a new season best while Gabby Gonzales had 12 digs and nine kills. Rader and Lauren Witte paced the team with two blocks apiece.
Ohio State out-killed Nebraska 67-61 and had a slight edge in assists at 61-57.
SET 1: A 5-1 Buckeye spurt sent Nebraska to its bench trailing 13-8. The Huskers made up some ground but Bukilic scored three of Ohio State’s five consecutive points for a 20-13 lead. Although Nebraska strung together four late points, the Buckeyes took the set on Londot’s kill, 25-21.
SET 2: After falling behind early, Ohio State fought back to tie the set at 10-all. Nebraska used a 5-1 run to pull ahead 19-16 but the Buckeyes responded with a sprint of their own to go up 20-19. Rader accounted for two of Ohio State’s last three kills to clinch the 25-21 win.
SET 3: The teams traded points until the Buckeyes needed a timeout as they trailed 19-15. The Huskers held on for a 25-20 victory.
SET 4: Ohio State made up the difference to tie the score at 14-all but called for time after Nebraska took a 19-15 advantage with four unanswered points. The margin proved to be too much as the Buckeyes fell 25-20.
SET 5: Nebraska had three straight tallies to take an 11-6 lead. Ohio State was able to pull within three but dropped the set, 15-10.
